Hi, I’m Leuween,
(Loo - ween)
Aspiring Buyer with Procurement & Merchandising Experience in Fashion, Retail, & Government
I moved to the States a little over two years ago from Ireland via a 6 year stint in Toronto, Canada and am finding my feet in the very lovely New England. I’m is a fashion forward procurement and buying professional with a unique mix of experience across luxury retail, product development, and even local government. I’ve worked on everything from launching new product lines and opening retail stores to leading data driven performance initiatives and stakeholder training.
I am wrapping up a Procurement Strategy Certificate from Cornell and looking for my next role in buying or planning, ideally in a creative, collaborative environment where I can merge her analytical skills with my strong eye for design and detail. I am especially passionate about assortment planning, understanding customer behaviour, and using data to shape smart, trend aware product decisions.
My Career
Retail Management & Experience Training
After years of working full time to pay for my fashion design education I was asked to relocate to the UK for a year to set up, hire, manage and educate all the staff for 6 new counters in department stores across the UK for Luxury retail brand Diptyque Paris. This involved managing and working with our wholesale customers for inventory management, product allocation and trend forcasting.
Fashion Design and Purchasing
Circumstance moved me to Canada where I pursued fashion design. It was here that I really sunk my teeth into purchasing and merchandise management. From fabric sourcing and purchasing to managing all imported goods from overseas production I built a strong foundation of procurement knowledge.
Technical Support
Later working at Shopify in Toronto I expanded my knowledge of digital products and gained so much insight into how the internet and businesses thrive together. Much of day involved speaking with Merchants and live troubleshooting, identifying and resolving their individual technical issue, this led to conversations about inventory management and understanding of their purchasing decisions, all while getting to understand the merchant’s business goals and finding ways to help them grow and meet those targets.
